SECOND PUBLICATION OF JDRF-PROJECT ‘BIOMARKERS OF HETEROGENEITY IN TYPE 1 DIABETES’

C-peptide and long-standing T1D

We are happy to report publication of the second paper resulting from the JDRF-sponsored ‘Biomarkers of heterogeneity in type 1 diabetes’ study (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04977635). This longitudinal analysis showed that 25% of participants still had detectable fasting serum C-peptide levels and that. It was also shown that for testing meal-stimulated residual C-peptide production, it may be sufficient to measure only the 90-minutes of 120-minutes timepoint in the mixed-meal tolerance test procedure, instead of using the typical 5 timepoints (0, 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes).
